Attention Musicians! Do you want airplay on our show?
Do you have a Band that plays music for Steampunks? Or a Band that uses classic instrumentation or has a unique sound that might work on our show? Then we would like to give you some airplay here at The Clockwork Cabaret on WCOM 103.5 LP-FM here in Carrboro, North Carolina. Airplay takes a couple of weeks from when we receive your band's press kit or recorded music. But we always post a playlist on our archive, so you can see when we played your music. Bands should also let us know where there music can be purchased from, this way when we do feature the bands music -- we will be able to plug it for you, as well. We often have listeners asking where they can find a band’s music & we’d love to be able to tell them. If your band has a website we would greatly appreciate a link on your site. It not only shows that you have been played on The Clockwork Cabaret but might help out other bands to discover us and increase listenership for all the bands. Of course in return we will put your bands website in either our Links page or mention you in a blog note, playlist etc. Where do You send a CD?: Please make sure that it includes a brief Biography on the musician or Band as well if possible (i.e. where has the band played?, how long have they been together?, who are there influences?, where are they from? etc.) as that always helps as well for introducing your bands music over the air. Send your Press kit / Music to: The Clockwork Cabaret P.O. Box 730 Carrboro, NC U.S.A. 27510We will try to contact you when we have received and reviewed your music and will let you know on what show it will be aired on The Clockwork Cabaret. The show online will also be archived and available to be heard worldwide a few days after airing. If you aren’t sure that your music is right for our show, but are interested in receiving airplay on WCOM 103.5 LP-FM. You can send a copy directly to the station, which makes your music accessible to all of the shows on the station. Send your Press kit / Music to: WCOM 103.5 LP-FM 201 N. Greensboro Street Carrboro, NC U.S.A. 27510If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email us: clockworkcabaret@gmail.com | | Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 | | 8:49 am |

The Beehive Art Challenge: Mohawks and Mullets
From Bowie to Bolton: the Mullet crossed the seas of fashion history from gender-bending rock 'n' rollers to blue collars. From Mohicans to Maddox: the Mohawk is a signature style of rebels and misfits. Talk about iconic styles & co-existing opposites. Both the Mullet & the Mohawk began making their appearance in popular culture as far back as the 1960's - however, the styles became fashion trends in the 1980's and still exist today. The staff at the Beehive salon in Carrboro loves both styles so much we would like to see them immortalized in art. We are looking for the best artistic representation of Mohawks & Mullets. THE CHALLENGE Any medium, any style, any size (well, it has to fit inside the Beehive Salon). All ages are encouraged to participate. The top 7 winners will have their art work displayed inside the Beehive Salon for the month of August and be part of the 2nd Friday art walk on August 14th. THE PRIZES 1st place: $100.00 gift certificate to the Beehive salon 2nd place: 75.00 gift certificate to the Beehive salon 3rd place: 50.00 gift certificate to the Beehive salon 4th - 7th places will receive a gift package Deadline: Saturday, July 25th. Contact from beyond the grave...
Apparently, Pablo Picasso would like to help me find a school and Andy Warhol is suggesting a particular Graphic Design company for my printing needs. Who knew that dead people could not only use the internet (a technology that didn't exist until after they died), but were looking out for me and my shopping needs. Thank you spammers for giving me a good laugh first thing in the morning! | | Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 | | 7:44 am |
There's no place like home...
Well, we're back from our European adventure, and I think I'm recovered from jet lag... though, I could be wrong. Now, to catch up with the pile of emails and work that have accumulated while I was gone. I'll also be posting pictures very soon. Also, this Saturday is Tarboro By Gaslight, so if you'd like to spend a steampunk filled day, come out and join us! | | Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 | | 8:00 am |

3rd band added to the Eccentrik Festival VI lineup!!
We are very happy to announce that The Extraordinary Contraptions have joined the lineup for the festival! ___________________________________________________________________________ The Extraordinary ContraptionsA lawman, a time traveler, a gentleman explorer and a mad genius join forces... to alter the sound of steampunk as we know it! The Extraordinary Contraptions, Atlanta, Georgia's own steampunk rock band combine superb musicianship with visuals from a time that never was. The rock and roll aesthetic meets the steampunk DIY ethic to produce unique sound and visual sensation. For too long have sequencers and synthesizers sapped the "punk" out of steampunk. No more. A little band from Terminus is on its way to the rescue on a stage near you. In their efforts to forge a steampunk rock movement, they employ neoclassic rock chops and a Victorian aesthetic to tell the stories of their otherworldly alter-egos. Their self-produced debut album, Inappropriate on Purpose, touches on universal themes before careening into pieces about malevolent alien invasions and failed mathematical romances. As the steampunk movement grows, The Extraordinary Contraptions offer their quirky, guitar-driven vision of this alternate reality. In January 2009, the band was invited to become part of the worldwide steampunk musical collective Gilded Age Records, joining Vernian Process, The Clockwork Dolls, The Tenth Stage, Viral Millennium, Unextraordinary Gentlemen, Ghostfire, Jill Tracy, Mister Joe Black, and Revel Hotel. For more information, check out: The Extraordinary Contraptions on Myspace |
