So, I have been waxing poetically, at least in my head about how much I miss my goth night & spinning that music. Well, because I suffer from some sort of affliction where I can't not be doing something or going slightly insane, I have applied to WCOM for another program - Dracula's Daughter: Goth/Industrial Radio. I'm looking to do it at midnight on Wednesday or Thursday. I hope they approve it, if not I may look into making it into simply a podcast.

With everything I've learned from doing The Clockwork Cabaret and the listener crossover we could possibly get, I think it would be a good idea. And, I know of a bunch of local DJs that I could ask to occasionally stop by and guest. So, keep your fingers crossed!

The Pitch Gallery is pleased to announce the sixth annual Eccentrik Festival art exhibit, a group art show of paintings, photographs, and illustrations. This exhibition was also in celebration of the third anniversary of the gallery. There will be music provided by the Davenport sisters.

This is the last chance to catch this exhibit at Pitch Gallery, which as always hopes to challenge the conventions of popular - and even independent - artistic expression.

Our featured exhibit includes quality works from the following list of high profile underground artists - Robert Bodnar, Iris Chen, Christopher N. It's called Dr. Jebediah Drinkwell's Meritage, and it has a catchy little song written on the back of the bottle. It's actually a pretty decent wine for $7.

Eccentrik Festival vs Halloween...

Because of the concern some people voiced about Halloween night & being able to make it out for the festival. I thought I should post some information from the town. If you go to our website, we have parking suggestions listed here.

- Restricted access to downtown through lane and street closures
- No special event park and ride bus shuttles
- Parking will be essentially unavailable downtown
= Police plan to begin reopening Franklin Street at midnight
- Chapel Hill Transit will run its usual bus routes although some will be rerouted due to the traffic diversion plan. The Safe Ride bus routes normally in place on the weekends will be available to transport community members and UNC students away from downtown.
- Downtown bars and restaurants will close their doors at 1 a.m. to new patrons.
- Although Daylight-Saving Time (DST) ends on Nov. 1, the clocks will not roll back for this event. (1 a.m. will not become midnight.)

Traffic Control

- Southbound traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be merged into one lane prior to the intersection of Estes Drive.
- Westbound traffic on E. Franklin Street will be merged into one lane prior to the intersection of Estes Drive.
- Westbound lanes on South Road will be detoured onto Ridge Road to Manning Drive.
- Westbound traffic on Manning Drive will be detoured south onto S. Columbia Street.
- Northbound traffic on S. Columbia Street will be detoured east onto Manning Drive.
- S. Columbia Street will be closed to northbound traffic at Manning Drive.
- Beginning at about 9 p.m., some downtown streets will be closed to vehicular traffic, including:

- Franklin Street, from Raleigh Street to Roberson Street
- Columbia Street, from Rosemary Street to Cameron Avenue
- Raleigh Street, from East Franklin to Cameron Avenue
- Henderson Street, from East Rosemary Street to East Franklin Street
- Residential streets near downtown will be closed except to residents of those streets and their guests.

Parking

As always, there will be little to NO PARKING available close to downtown, and there will be no place for charter buses to drop off or pick up passengers. Charter buses entering the downtown Chapel Hill area will be directed by law enforcement officers to the outskirts of Town prior to dropping off any passengers.

- Vehicles parked on streets to be closed will be towed beginning at 6 p.m.

- Vehicles that are illegally parked will be ticketed and towed, with a minimum recovery cost of $103.

Transit

- No Bus Shuttles: There will be no bus shuttles operating from park and ride lots.

- Safe Ride Buses: Safe Ride buses will operate from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Safe Ride is a service funded by the University for the safety of students. Safe Ride buses will attempt to operate the normal published schedules along the detoured routes. Safe Rides will not serve the Downtown/Franklin Street area. Please be advised that due to road closures and traffic pattern changes, Chapel Hill Transit may be unable to operate its exact published schedules. View Safe Ride maps and schedules.

- Safe T - pick up and drop off from Chapel Hill Town Hall
- Safe J - pick up and drop off from Passport Motors
- Safe G - pick up and drop off from Columbia Street at Sitterson Hall across from Carolina Inn
Changes to Bus Routes: Chapel Hill Transit riders should be aware that the NU Route will end at 9:02 p.m. at the PR Lot. Riders who would like to travel on this route from 9-11 p.m. must schedule a Shared Ride trip in advance. All calls must be received by 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in order to use this service. Riders may begin scheduling rides on Friday, Oct. 23. Shared Ride services will be available during normal route hours.

To schedule a ride, please call Chapel Hill Transit Reservations at (919) 969-5544 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday-Saturday) and 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Sunday).

Wedding Music?

In a couple weeks, I'm going to be deejaying a wedding ceremony, reception, and after party and I need some suggestions for music for the ceremony & reception. I'm having a bit of "music block".

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Ball last night, you all looked fabulous! And, to those who sent their apologies & were unable to attend, we missed you!

We had a record turnout, and it made Klaude & myself giddy with the sheer magnitude of what has happened in this area's steampunk community over the past 2 years, and none of it would have been possible without you guys. When we began this whole silly adventure we didn't think anyone else would get it, let alone enjoy it as much as we do... words can't express all of the warm fuzzy feelings. - Emmett

So, I just found out from mephistopholina that our podcast is in the Top 10 download list on our podhosting website (we actually take up 4 places). Plus, we have now passed the 5000 subscriber mark. Woohoo!

Also, we have been contemplating some new projects to add to our already ridiculous amount of things we're working on... thinking about purchasing a trolley bus for the possibility of touring next summer (or simply using it for fun) & we've been asked to deejay a wedding, so we're wondering, if there's a future in being steampunk wedding DJs... and, should we buy more equipment?

The Creeping Ritual...

So, tonight marks the first show that our dear Miss mephistopholina has put together - The Slow Poisoner, The Hellblinki Sextet, and the Davenport sisters at the Nightlight in Chapel Hill.

I'm very proud of her, she has been bustin' her bustle getting everything organized and promoting the darn thing.

So, if you're not doing anything this evening or are looking for something to do, I highly recommend this show. I've been told that there will be carnival cutouts for photo ops and a rousing game of "Pin the boat on the Kraken", plus good music, of course.

The Fate of Dracula's Daughter...

So, after a lot of thought and a couple very long phone calls, I am very sorry to announce that Dracula's Daughter is no more. For the last six years, it has been a very large part of my life and it really pains me to do it. But, for various reasons, I just can't do it anymore.

I want to thank everyone that has been a part of it, we could not have done it for as long as we did without your support.

Also please, support our DJs in their own endeavors, as they are both exceptional and it's always a pleasure to hear what they do. Poe is deejaying a monthly event called, Kinetik, on the 4th Fridays at Flex in Raleigh. Mephi's alterego, Klaude Davenport, can be heard every week on The Clockwork Cabaret on WCOM 103.5 LP- FM Carrboro/ Chapel Hill, as well as, hosting The Clockwork Ball.
